Hastraa specializes in Applications Testing with focus on Finance and Insurance domains. My role involved:
− Managing overall operations encompassing internal IT and clients’ Testing/Security projects
− IT Implementation to enable information-driven strategies and processes
− Implementation of Bumi Putra (Malaysian equivalent to Omanisation and other Natinalisation drives seen in the middle east) and sustenance
GALFAR ENGINEERING & CONTRACTING SAOG (Muscat, Oman & Doha, Qatar), 2008 to FEB, 2015
GENERAL MANAGER, IT
One of the largest engineering, contracting, and construction firms in the Middle East with 25,000 employees and $1B+ in revenue.
– Develop and implement IT solutions to improve performance, efficiency, and capability for Galfar. Engage senior staff across multiple divisions to define business needs, develop IT strategy and implementation plan, and align IT.

Initiatives with broader objectives of growth, profitability, and productivity. Preside over enterprise-wide, million-dollar projects, steering work from requirements analysis to completion. Lead a 50-member team and administer a $2.5M budget.
Technical Leadership
− Drove on-time, on-budget execution of $1M SAP implementation at Doha, Qatar, bolstering Galfar’s financial reporting, HR, material logistics, and project management functions with the enterprise-wide solution.
− Captured $3M in savings by developing an ERP payroll application in-house; led in-house team to build and deploy a cost-efficient, well-organized system that fulfilled the complex payroll needs of the construction industry.
− Took over a stalled Oracle EBS implementation at Galfar’s Muscat headquarters and led 30-member team to introduce a new ERP system that grew efficiency and transparency across the company, drawing praise from senior management of both Galfar and Oracle for salvaging the failing project.
− Implemented dashboards for senior management and end-users to facilitate timely availability of reports for Projects, Finance, Material Management and other operational areas
− Cut over $ 100K in fuel costs through implementation of a Fleet Management system, and reduced turnaround time between purchase request and material delivery by more than 30% through more efficient logistics systems.
− Initiated cloud based Oracle BI implementation

− Built, trained, and mentored 50-member teams, aligning cross-functional staff behind common project goals.
− Ensured most efficient use of $4M budget, maximizing the ROI of IT investments.

iGATE GLOBAL SOLUTIONS (Now Capgemini; Singapore / Kuala Lampur, Malaysia) 2003 to 2005
DELIVERY MANAGER
Global IT consulting and solutions provider with over $1B in annual revenue and 30,000 employees.
Led the development, execution, and delivery of a Data Center for BMW, a major iGate client. Collaborated with senior client decision-makers to determine business needs and requirements, and translated into technical solutions.
Managed a broad range of IT projects, and built and led Service Delivery teams.
Technical Leadership
− Established BMW’s Asia Technology center from ground-up, developing a comprehensive IT service and solution center that supports 10 countries in the Asia Pacific; collaborated with multiple hardware and software vendors and regional offices to build a unified data center with SAP and other critical applications running on HP-UX, AS/400, SUN Solaris, and Windows, including WAN connectivity between Germany and AsiaPac locations.
− Team was responsible for Infrastructure and Apps support and for establishing dashboards and reports to monitor all IT operational activities
− Ensured full health and functionality of IT infrastructure supporting critical servers, systems, and applications, and proactively identified and resolved potential issues before they occurred to avoid business interruptions.
Organizational/Team Leadership
− Built a tight-knit, high-performing Service Delivery team from scratch; recruited, hired, trained, and mentored staff, and designed efficient work systems to launch a new Data Center in service to BMW.
− Embraced a collaborative leadership style to drive staff engagement, motivation, professional growth, and retention, maximizing both the performance and potential of personnel.
− Represented iGate brand and expertise in relationships with senior BMW officers, and helped iGate win new business.
PRIOR EXPERIENCE
QUARK, INC., R&D DIRECTOR (Singapore) 1997 to 2002
− Directed 60-member team, managed a $4M budget, and led all divisions of the Singapore branch for the $200M publisher, including R&D, QA, IT, Production, and Customer Service Departments.
− Drove full product development lifecycle for several new products, including Quark Xpress (a widespread standard in the publishing industry) Quark DMS (Digital Asset Management system), and Quark Publishing System.

− Designed, developed, and deployed workflow-related applications for office and project management, including a web-based Collaborative Management Tool used globally by Quark’s Software Development team.

FACULTY OF MEDICINE, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES UNIVERSITY, COMPUTER ENGINEER (Al Ain, UAE) 1992 to 1996
− Established IT strategy and helped create IT department to support the growth and development of the university’sFaculty of Medicine, which was in its formative stage at the start of tenure.
− Built in-house ERP suite comprising personnel management, accounts payable, general ledger, budget management, asset management, inventory management, and procurement.
− Developed system software to interface medical equipment with personal computers
− Designed and installed 12 LANs using Novell Netware 4.x.
